Shloka 29

न चाप्यधर्मे न सुहृद्विभेदने परस्वहारे परदारमर्शने । कदर्यभावे न रमेन्मन: सदा नृणां सदाख्यानमिदं विजानताम्‌,तथा जो लोग सदा इस मनोहर उपाख्यानको स्मरण रखेंगे; उनका मन अधर्ममें, सुहृदोंके भीतर फ़ूट डालनेमें, दूसरोंका धन हरनेमें, परस्त्रीगमनमें अथवा कृपणतामें कभी प्रवृत्त नहीं होगा

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

na cāpy adharme na suhṛd-vibhedane para-svahāre para-dāra-marśane |

kadarya-bhāve na ramen manaḥ sadā nṛṇāṃ sadākhyānam idaṃ vijānatām ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Möge der Geist derer, die diese stets glückverheißende Erzählung wahrhaft verstehen und im Gedächtnis bewahren, an nichts von alledem Gefallen finden—nicht an Unrecht (adharma), nicht am Zwietrachtstiften unter Freunden, nicht am Raub fremden Besitzes, nicht am Begehren nach der Frau eines anderen, noch am Versinken in niederer Geizigkeit. Denn wer diese schöne Geschichte unablässig bedenkt, dessen Herz wendet sich nicht solchem Fehlverhalten zu.
