पुरुषस्य परे लोके कीर्तिरेव परायणम् | इह लोके विशुद्धा च कीर्तिरायुर्विवर्द्धनी,परलोकमें कीर्ति ही पुरुषके लिये सबसे महान् आश्रय है। इस लोकमें भी विशुद्ध कीर्ति आयु बढ़ानेवाली होती है
puruṣasya pare loke kīrtir eva parāyaṇam | iha loke viśuddhā ca kīrtir āyur-vivarddhanī ||
Karna sagte: „Für einen Mann ist im Jenseits allein der Ruhm die höchste Zuflucht. Und auch in dieser Welt trägt makelloser Ruf das Leben und soll, wie man sagt, die Lebensjahre mehren.“
