Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds the ethical weight of counsel: significant speech (mahad vākya) is sought not as gossip but as guidance, and divine prompting (Indra’s word) is presented as a serious moral and strategic intervention within dharma-centered kingship.

In the outer frame, King Janamejaya asks the narrator to recount what the sage Lomasha said earlier—speech connected with Indra’s instruction—specifically in relation to Yudhiṣṭhira. This question cues the next portion of the story in the Kundalāharaṇa (earrings-and-armor) episode context.
