वधार्थमात्मनस्तेन हृता सीता दुरात्मना । नलकूबरशापेन रक्षा चास्या: कृता मया,दुरात्मा रावणने अपने वधके लिये ही सीताका अपहरण किया था। नलकूबरके शापद्दारा मैंने सीताकी रक्षाका प्रबन्ध कर दिया था
vadhārtham ātmanaḥ tena hṛtā sītā durātmanā | nalakūbaraśāpena rakṣā cāsyāḥ kṛtā mayā ||
Varuṇa sprach: „Jener Bösewicht entführte Sītā nur, um sein eigenes Verderben herbeizuführen. Und durch den Fluch Nalakūbaras hatte ich ihren Schutz bereits zuvor verfügt.“
वरुण उवाच
Adharma carries its own consequence: a wrongful act done from lust and arrogance becomes the very cause of the wrongdoer’s ruin, while dharmic forces ensure protection of the innocent through moral law (here expressed as a curse’s constraint).
Varuṇa explains that Rāvaṇa’s abduction of Sītā was effectively self-destructive, and that Sītā’s safety had been secured due to Nalakūbara’s curse, which functioned as a protective restraint against Rāvaṇa’s violation.
