Karṇa-kuṇḍala-kavaca-jijñāsā; Kuntibhoja’s hospitality and Pṛthā’s appointment (कर्णकुण्डलकवचजिज्ञासा)
ते दृश्यमाना हरिभिव॑लिभिर्दूरपातिभि: । निहता: सर्वशो राजन् महीं जग्मुर्गतासव:,फिर तो वे सभी राक्षस वानरोंकी दृष्टिमें आ गये। राजन! वानर बलवान तो थे ही, वे दूरतक उछलकर जानेकी शक्ति रखते थे। वे सब ओरसे कूद-कूदकर उन्हें मारने लगे। उनकी मार खाकर वे सभी राक्षस प्राणशून्य होकर पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़े
te dṛśyamānā haribhir balibhir dūrapātibhiḥ | nihatāḥ sarvaśo rājan mahīṃ jagmur gatāsavaḥ ||
Da kamen jene Rākṣasas vollends in den Blick der mächtigen Vānara-Krieger, die zu weiten Sprüngen fähig waren. O König, die Affen schlugen von allen Seiten zu, sprangen immer wieder heran und griffen an; und, niedergeworfen, fielen all jene Rākṣasas leblos zur Erde.
