जयद्रथ-निग्रहः — Jayadratha Restrained, Shamed, and Released
राजसूयं पाण्डवस्य दृष्टवा क्रतुवरं महत् । मम स्पृहा समुत्पन्ना तां सम्पादय सूतज
rājasūyaṁ pāṇḍavasya dṛṣṭvā kratuvaraṁ mahat | mama spṛhā samutpannā tāṁ sampādaya sūtaja, sūtanandana ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Als ich das große und höchste Opfer sah — das Rājasūya des Pāṇḍava — erhob sich auch in meinem Herzen Verlangen. O Sohn eines Sūta, o Wonne des Wagenlenker-Geschlechts, erfülle mir diesen Wunsch.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how witnessing another’s greatness can awaken ambition; ethically, it invites reflection on whether one’s desire is aligned with dharma and whether the means of fulfilling it are rightful.
A speaker, impressed by the Pāṇḍava’s magnificent Rājasūya sacrifice, expresses a wish to perform the same and urges a sūta’s son—addressed respectfully—to help accomplish that desire.
