(Dvāitavana-gamanam) — Journey and Settlement at Dvaita Forest-Lake

Educational Q&A

Even in hardship, righteous leadership expresses itself through dharma: honoring ascetics and Brahmins, practicing hospitality (atithi-satkara), and sustaining the spiritual community with whatever pure means are available (here, forest roots and fruits).

During the Pandavas’ forest life, the king—understood as Yudhiṣṭhira—provides excellent roots and fruits to the resident ascetics, sages, and foremost Brahmins, ensuring they are well cared for in the forest setting.
