ब्रवीषि यदिदं कर्ण सर्व मनसि मे स्थितम् | न त्वभ्यनुज्ञां लप्स्यामि गमने यत्र पाण्डवा:,“कर्ण! तुम जो कुछ कह रहे हो, वह सब मेरे मनमें भी है। परंतु जहाँ पाण्डव रहते हैं, वहाँ जानेके लिये मैं पिताजीकी आज्ञा नहीं पा सकूँगा
bravīṣi yad idaṃ karṇa sarvaṃ manasi me sthitam | na tv abhyanujñāṃ lapsyāmi gamane yatra pāṇḍavāḥ ||
„Karṇa, was du sagst, das alles wohnt auch in meinem Herzen. Doch werde ich von meinem Vater keine Erlaubnis erhalten, dorthin zu gehen, wo die Pāṇḍavas weilen.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when one’s inner conviction aligns with wise counsel, action may be ethically and socially constrained by legitimate authority and filial duty; dharma can require restraint when permission and propriety are lacking.
A speaker responds to Karṇa, agreeing with his viewpoint internally, but explains that he cannot go to the Pāṇḍavas’ location because he will not receive his father’s consent.
