पर्वताक्ष शतघ्न्यक्ष प्रासासिपरिघा गदा: । निपतद्धिश्व तैघेरिदेवानीकं महायुधै:

parvatākṣa-śataghnīyakṣa-prāsāsi-parighā gadāḥ | nipatad dhiśva tais tīvrair devānīkaṁ mahāyudhaiḥ ||

Mārkaṇḍeya sprach: „Da wurde das Heer der Götter mit gewaltigen Waffen—mit steinernen Geschossen wie Bergbrocken, schweren Keulen, Speeren, Schwertern, Eisenstangen und Streitkolben—von allen Seiten getroffen, als jene grimmigen Waffen wie Regen herabstürzten. Das Bild zeigt, wie selbst ein gerechtes Heer durch überwältigende Gewalt geprüft wird und wie Mut und Standhaftigkeit im Wirrwarr der Schlacht gefordert sind.“
