Dvaītavana Lake: Obstructed Entry
शिवाश्रैवाशिवाश्वैव पुन: पुनरुदारधी: । ततः संकल्प्य पुत्रत्वे स्कन्दं मातृगणो5गमत्,तब उदारबुद्धि स्कन्दने बार-बार कहा--“बहुत अच्छा, तुम सब लोग पृथक्-पृथक् पूजनीया माता मानी जाओगी। तुम्हारे दो भेद होंगे--शिवा और अशिवा।' तदनन्तर स्कन्दको अपना पुत्र मानकर मातृकाएँ वहाँसे विदा हो गयीं
śivāś caivāśivāś caiva punaḥ punar udāradhīḥ | tataḥ saṅkalpya putratve skandaṃ mātṛgaṇo 'gamat ||
Mārkaṇḍeya sprach: In großmütigem Verständnis erklärte Skanda immer wieder: „Ihr sollt als Mütter verehrt werden, jede in eigenem Recht—zweierlei Art: glückverheißend (Śivā) und unheilvoll (Aśivā).“ Nachdem die Schar der Muttergöttinnen beschlossen hatte, Skanda als Sohn anzunehmen, verließ sie jenen Ort.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Powerful forces—whether beneficent or fearsome—are brought into dharmic order through clear recognition and rightful reverence. By naming the Mothers as Śivā and Aśivā and granting them honored status, the narrative suggests that ethical stability comes from integrating and regulating energies rather than denying them.
Skanda repeatedly addresses the host of Mother-goddesses, affirming that they will be worshipped as mothers in two categories, auspicious and inauspicious. After this declaration, the Mothers resolve to regard Skanda as their son and then depart.
