Transliteration

adahadū devasainyāni vepamānāni bhūtale | te pradīptaśirodehāḥ pradīptāyudhavāhanāḥ ||

Translation

Mārkaṇḍeya sprach: „Er begann die Heere der Götter zu verbrennen, während sie zitternd auf der Erde lagen. Jene Krieger, deren Köpfe und Leiber in Flammen standen, und deren Waffen und Reittiere ebenfalls brannten, stürzten in Qualen zu Boden.“ Die Stelle betont die moralische Schwere ungezügelter Vernichtungskraft im Kampf: Überschreitet Gewalt die Grenzen des Dharma, werden selbst die Mächtigen zu hilflos Leidenden.
