अध्याय १९० — वामदेव-वाम्य-वृत्तान्तः

The Vāmadeva Horses Episode and the Ethics of Promise

यतय: शान्तिपरमा यतात्मानो बुभुत्सव:,मामेव सतत विद्राश्चिन्तयन्त उपासते । शान्तिपरायण, संयमी, जिज्ञासु, काम-क्रोध-द्वेघपहित आसक्तिशून्य, निष्पाप, सात्विक, नित्य अहंकारशून्य तथा अध्यात्मज्ञानकुशल यति एवं ब्राह्मण सदा मेरा ही चिन्तन करते हुए उपासना करते हैं

yatayaḥ śāntiparamā yatātmāno bubhutsavaḥ | mām eva satataṃ vidrāś cintayanta upāsate ||

Die Gottheit sprach: „Jene Asketen, deren höchstes Ziel der Frieden ist — selbstbeherrscht, im Geist diszipliniert und auf wahre Erkenntnis ausgerichtet — halten ihren Sinn unablässig allein auf Mich gerichtet. Mich stets betrachtend, verehren sie Mich, frei von Anhaftung und gereinigt von den Regungen von Begierde, Zorn und Hass. Solche Suchenden, sündlos, sattvisch und ohne Ich-Dünkel, kundig im inneren Wissen, leben in beständiger Hingabe an Mich.“
