Vaiśampāyana said: Mighty and true in valor, the strong-armed hero covered all his foes with arrows that struck down enemies—just as the sun, with its rays, spreads over and covers the world. The image underscores disciplined power used decisively in battle, where strength is measured by steadfast courage and effective protection of one’s cause.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse praises steadfast, truthful valor: power becomes admirable when it is unwavering and effectively directed against wrongdoing, like the sun’s rays that naturally pervade and illuminate.
A mighty warrior overwhelms the opposing side by showering enemy-slaying arrows, metaphorically ‘covering’ them the way the sun covers the world with its rays.
