मुष्टिभिश्व महाघोरैरन्योन्यमभिजचध्नतु: । तत: कटकटाशब्दो बभूव सुमहात्मनो:,अपने अत्यन्त भयानक मुक्‍कोंद्वारा वे परस्पर चोट करने लगे। तब उन दोनों महाकाय वीरोंमें जोर-जोरसे कटकटानेकी आवाज होने लगी

muṣṭibhiś ca mahāghorair anyonyam abhijaghnatuḥ | tataḥ kaṭakaṭāśabdo babhūva sumahātmanoḥ ||

Vaiśaṃpāyana sprach: Mit überaus schrecklichen Fäusten schlugen sie immer wieder aufeinander ein. Da erhob sich von diesen beiden großleibigen, hochgesinnten Helden ein lautes Klacken—wie das Knirschen harter Schläge—ein Zeichen für die Wildheit und die unnachlassende Wucht ihres Kampfes.
