मैत्रेयागमनम् — The Arrival of Maitreya and the Admonition to Duryodhana

बाहू महान्तौ कृत्वा तु तथा55स्यं च भयानकम्‌ | स्थितमावृत्य पन्थानं येन यान्ति कुरूद्वहा:,अपनी दोनों भुजाओंको बहुत बड़ी करके मुँहको भयानकरूपसे फैलाकर वह उसी मार्गको घेरकर खड़ा हो गया, जिससे वे कुरुवंशशिरोमणि पाण्डव यात्रा कर रहे थे

bāhū mahāntau kṛtvā tu tathāsyaṃ ca bhayānakam | sthitam āvṛtya panthānaṃ yena yānti kurūdvahāḥ ||

Er machte seine Arme riesenhaft und riss den Mund zu einem schrecklichen Rachen auf; dann stellte er sich hin und versperrte die Straße — eben den Weg, auf dem die Pāṇḍava, die Vornehmsten des Kuru-Geschlechts, zogen. Die Szene zeigt, wie rohe Einschüchterung den Gerechten aufhalten kann und so Standhaftigkeit und Urteilskraft in der Waldprüfung erprobt.
