Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 92: Kṛṣṇasya sabhāpraveśaḥ
Krishna’s Entry into the Royal Assembly
apāyan pāṇḍavārthaṃ yathāvacchamaṃ kurūṇāṃ yadi cācareyam | puṇyaṃ ca me syāc caritaṃ mahātman mucyeran kuravo mṛtyupāśāt ||
Seeking a just and fitting peace—without sacrificing rightful claims—is presented as a high dharmic act that generates puṇya and can avert mass destruction (symbolized as release from the ‘noose of death’).
The speaker expresses an intention to mediate: to protect the Pāṇḍavas’ legitimate interests while arranging an appropriate settlement with the Kurus, hoping thereby to prevent the fatal consequences of war.
