विदुरस्य कृष्णं प्रति शमोपदेशः
Vidura’s Counsel to Krishna on the Limits of Peace
दुर्योधनसमीपे तानासनस्थान् ददर्श सः । दुर्योधनके पास ही दुःशासन, कर्ण तथा सुबलपुत्र शकुनि--ये भी आसनोंपर बैठे थे। श्रीकृष्णने उनको भी देखा
duryodhanasamīpe tān āsanasthān dadarśa saḥ |
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Nahe bei Duryodhana sah er sie auf ihren zugewiesenen Sitzen. Auch Duḥśāsana, Karṇa und Śakuni, der Sohn Subalas, saßen dort; und Śrī Kṛṣṇa nahm auch sie wahr.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how power is reinforced by a circle of advisers and allies; ethically, it invites reflection on association (saṅga) and responsibility—those who sit with and support an unjust course become participants in its consequences.
In the Kaurava court setting, Kṛṣṇa looks toward Duryodhana and notices key Kaurava supporters—Duḥśāsana, Karṇa, and Śakuni—already seated nearby, indicating a prepared, aligned faction around Duryodhana.
