वैशम्पायन उवाच इत्युक्त्वा मृदुसंहारं वृजिनाग्रं सुदर्शनम्‌ । सुनीलमसितापाडुी सर्वगन्धाधिवासितम्‌,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! ऐसा कहकर सुन्दर अंगोंवाली, श्यामलोचना, कमलनयनी एवं गजगामिनी द्रुपदकुमारी कृष्णा अपने उन केशोंको, जो देखनेमें अत्यन्त सुन्दर, घुँघराले, अत्यन्त काले, एकत्र आबद्ध होनेपर भी कोमल, सब प्रकारकी सुगन्धोंसे सुवासित, सभी शुभ लक्षणोंसे सुशोभित तथा विशाल सर्पके समान कान्तिमान्‌ थे, बाँयें हाथमें लेकर कमलनयन श्रीकृष्णके पास गयी और नेत्रोंमें आँसू भरकर इस प्रकार बोली --

vaiśampāyana uvāca | ity uktvā mṛdu-saṃhāraṃ vṛjina-agraṃ sudarśanam | su-nīlam asitā-pāṇḍu sarva-gandhādhivāsitam |

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Janamejaya, nachdem sie so gesprochen hatte, nahm sie mit der linken Hand ihre Haarsträhnen—sanft zusammengefasst, von erlesener Schönheit, tief blau-schwarz, dunkel und glänzend, von allerlei Düften durchtränkt. Dann trat Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), die Tochter Drupadas—mit lotosgleichen Augen und dem Gang einer Elefantenkuh—zu Śrī Kṛṣṇa, dem Lotosäugigen. Ihre Augen füllten sich mit Tränen, und sie begann zu sprechen.“
