अध्याय ८ — शल्यस्य सत्कारः, वरदानं, पाण्डवसमागमश्च (Śalya’s Reception, the Boon, and Meeting the Pāṇḍavas)

कूृपाश्न विविधाकारा मनोहर्षविवर्धना: । वाप्यश्न विविधाकारा औदकानि गृहाणि च,अनेक प्रकारके कुएँ तथा भाँति-भाँतिकी बावड़ियाँ बनायी गयी थीं, जो हृदयके हर्षको बढ़ा रही थीं। बहुत-से ऐसे गृह बने थे, जिनमें जलकी विशेष सुविधा सुलभ की गयी थी

kūpāś ca vividhākārā manoharṣa-vivardhanāḥ | vāpyāś ca vividhākārā audakāni gṛhāṇi ca ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Brunnen vieler Arten wurden errichtet, die das Herz erfreuten und die Freude mehrten. Teiche in unterschiedlichen Formen wurden ebenfalls angelegt, und Häuser wurden mit besonderen Wasservorkehrungen ausgestattet.
