Educational Q&A

The verse upholds traditional markers of authority in counsel—steadfast intellect (kṛtabuddhi), noble lineage (kula), maturity (vayas), and scriptural learning (śruta)—as ethical qualifications for leadership and trustworthy advice.

Drupada addresses an honored interlocutor with formal praise, establishing the person’s credibility and moral-intellectual standing before proceeding with his request or counsel within the diplomatic tensions of the Udyoga Parva.
