Saṃjaya’s Warning to Dhṛtarāṣṭra: Accountability, Alliance-Shift, and the Pāṇḍava Strategic Edge

kṣapayīṣyati no rājan kālacakram ivodyatam |

Educational Q&A

The verse uses the metaphor of the ‘wheel of Time’ to stress inevitability: once a destructive course is set in motion—especially through stubbornness and adharma—its consequences become difficult to avert. Human agency still matters, but kāla is portrayed as the force that completes the moral reckoning.

Sañjaya, speaking to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, expresses dread about the coming conflict. He predicts that the opposing warrior (contextually Arjuna) will annihilate them, comparing that devastation to the unstoppable turning of Time’s wheel.
