अपि मे वाचं भाषमाणस्य काव्यां धर्मारामामर्थवतीमहिंस्राम् । अवेक्षेरन् धार्तराष्ट्रा: समक्ष॑ मां च प्राप्त कुरव: पूजयेयु:,मैं वहाँ जाकर शुक्रनीतिके अनुसार धर्म और अर्थसे युक्त ऐसी बातें कहूँगा, जो हिंसावृत्तिको दबानेवाली होंगी। क्या धृतराष्ट्रके पुत्र मेरी उन बातोंपर विचार करेंगे? क्या कौरवगण अपने सामने उपस्थित होनेपर मेरा सम्मान करेंगे?
api me vācaṃ bhāṣamāṇasya kāvyāṃ dharmārāmām arthavatīm ahiṃsrām | avekṣeran dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ samakṣaṃ māṃ ca prāpta kuravaḥ pūjayeyuḥ ||
Wenn ich spreche—eine wohlgeformte, überzeugende Botschaft, die sich an Dharma erfreut, dem Artha dient und Gewalt zügelt—werden die Söhne Dhṛtarāṣṭras meine Worte wahrhaft bedenken? Und wenn ich vor ihnen erscheine, werden die Kurus mich in ihrer Gegenwart ehren?
