Sañjaya’s Envoy-Speech on Peace

नाश्रेयान्‌ वै प्रावारान्‌ संविवस्ते कथं त्वस्मान्‌ सम्प्रणुदेत्‌ कुरुभ्य: । अन्रैव स्यादबुधस्यैव काम: प्राय: शरीरे हृदयं दुनोति

sañjaya uvāca |

nāśreyān vai prāvārān saṃvivaste kathaṃ tv asmān sampranudet kurubhyaḥ |

anṛ eva syād abudhasyaiva kāmaḥ prāyaḥ śarīre hṛdayaṃ dunoti ||

Sañjaya sprach: „Ohne Verdienst trägt man nicht einmal feine Mäntel; wie sollte man uns da aus dem Land der Kurus vertreiben? Wahrlich, Begierde gehört nur dem Unweisen; meist quält sie das Herz im Innern des Leibes.“
