भीष्मस्वप्न-स्मृत्युपाख्यानम् | Bhīṣma’s Dream-Linked Recollection of the Paraśurāma Combat
न विषादस्त्वया कार्यो भीष्म काशिसुतां प्रति । देवं पुरुषकारेण को निवर्तितुमुत्सहेत्
na viṣādastvayā kāryo bhīṣma kāśisutāṃ prati | devaṃ puruṣakāreṇa ko nivartitum utsahet, rājan |
Rāma sprach: „Bhīṣma, gib dich nicht der Trauer hin um die Tochter des Königs von Kāśī. O König, wer wollte durch bloß menschliches Bemühen das umstoßen, was das Göttliche verfügt hat?“
राम उवाच
The verse emphasizes acceptance of daiva (divine ordinance) and counsels restraint from grief: some outcomes are beyond the reach of puruṣakāra (human effort), so one should respond with steadiness rather than despair.
Paraśurāma addresses Bhīṣma, advising him not to grieve over the Kāśī princess matter, framing the situation as governed by divine dispensation that cannot be simply reversed by personal exertion.
