Bhīṣma’s Dream-Linked Recollection of the Paraśurāma Combat

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes truthful reporting (yathāvṛttaṃ) and responsible action: before proceeding in a sensitive matter involving a maiden, one should verify facts through wise agents, aligning decisions with dharma and social propriety.

Rāma tells the king that he conveyed the events exactly as they occurred; his mother/queen welcomed his report, and he then commissioned intelligent men to investigate and ascertain the maiden’s full background and conduct.
