अथावताप्य पृथिवीं पूषा दिवससंक्षये । जगामास्तं सहस्रांशुस्ततो युद्धमुपारमत्,भारत! उसके बादसे मैंने परशुरामजीपर फिर प्रहार नहीं किया। इधर सहस्र किरणोंवाले भगवान् सूर्य इस पृथ्वीको तपाकर दिनका अन्त होनेपर अस्त हो गये; इसलिये वह युद्ध बंद हो गया
athāvatāpya pṛthivīṃ pūṣā divasa-saṃkṣaye | jagāmāstaṃ sahasrāṃśus tato yuddham upāramat |
Nachdem Pūṣan — die tausendstrahlige Sonne — die Erde versengt hatte, ging er am Ende des Tages unter. Daher kam der Kampf zum Stillstand, denn mit dem Einbruch der Nacht endete das Gefecht.
राम उवाच
The verse underscores restraint and order in warfare: even intense conflict is bounded by time and propriety, and the natural rhythm of day and night functions as a dharmic limit that brings fighting to a stop.
As the Sun sets at the end of the day after heating the earth, the battle is discontinued; the setting of the Sun becomes the immediate cause for the cessation of combat.
