Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
tataḥ sā rāmam abhyetya jananī me mahānadī | madarthaṃ tam ṛṣiṃ vīkṣya kṣamayāmāsa bhārgavam ||
When conflict or wrongdoing arises through one’s actions, dharma is served not only by strength but also by humility: seeking forgiveness and making amends can restore moral order and reduce further harm.
Bhīṣma narrates that his mother, the great river Mahānadī, approached Rāma (Paraśurāma). Recognizing that the sage Bhārgava had been drawn into the situation because of Bhīṣma, she attempted to appease him and asked for his forgiveness.
