अम्बोपाख्याने तापसानां विचारः तथा होत्रवाहनस्य उपदेशः

अम्बा तमब्रवीद् राजन्ननड्रशरपीडिता । नैवं वद महीपाल नैतदेवं कथंचन,राजन! यह सुनकर कामदेवके बाणोंसे पीड़ित हुई अम्बा शाल्वराजसे बोली --'भूपाल! तुम किसी तरह भी ऐसी बात मुहसे न निकालो। शत्रुसूदन! मैं भीष्मके साथ प्रसन्नतापूर्वक नहीं गयी थी। उन्होंने समस्त राजाओंको खदेड़कर बलपूर्वक मेरा अपहरण किया था और मैं रोती हुई ही उनके साथ गयी थी
ambā tam abravīd rājann anaṅgaśara-pīḍitā | naivaṁ vada mahīpāla naitad evaṁ kathaṁcana ||
Amba, gequält von den Pfeilen des körperlosen Liebesgottes, sagte zum König: „O König, sprich nicht so. O Herrscher der Erde, so ist es nicht — keineswegs. Ich ging nicht freiwillig oder freudig mit Bhishma; nachdem er die versammelten Könige vertrieben hatte, raubte er mich mit Gewalt, und ich ging nur weinend mit ihm.“
