Nahūṣa’s Fall Explained: Agastya’s Account to Indra (Śalya-narrated)
तेनाभूद्धततेजाश्न नि:श्रीकश्न महीपति: । ततस्तं तमसा55विग्नमवोचं भृूशपीडितम्,इससे उसका सारा तेज नष्ट हो गया। वह राजा श्रीहीन हो गया। तब तमोगुणमें डूबकर अत्यन्त पीड़ित हुए नहुषसे मैंने इस प्रकार कहा--
tenābhūd dhata-tejāś ca niḥśrīkaś ca mahīpatiḥ | tatas taṃ tamasāviṣṭam avochaṃ bhṛśa-pīḍitam ||
Durch diese Tat erlosch sein Glanz, und der König wurde des Schimmers beraubt. Als ich dann Nahuṣa sah, von der Finsternis (tamas) überwältigt und schwer gepeinigt, sprach ich zu ihm folgende Worte—
