जीमूत एव घर्मान्ति महावातसमीरित: । समायुक्तस्तु कौन्तेयो वासुदेवसहायवान् | तरुणश्न कृती चैव जीर्णावावामुभावषि,ग्रीष्म-ऋतुके अन्तमें प्रचण्ड वायुसे प्रेरित महामेघकी भाँति श्रीकृष्णसहित अर्जुन युद्धके लिये तैयार है। वह अस्त्रोंका विद्वान् और तरुण भी है। इधर हम दोनों वृद्ध हो चले हैं
jīmūta eva gharmānte mahāvātasamīritaḥ | samāyuktas tu kaunteyo vāsudevasahāyavān || taruṇaś ca kṛtī caiva jīrṇāv āvām ubhāv api ||
Bhishma sprach: „Wie eine große Wolke, die am Ende des Sommers von wilden Winden getrieben wird, so ist auch der Sohn der Kunti—Arjuna—vollends zum Kampf gerüstet, gestützt von Vasudeva (Krishna). Er ist jung und vollendet, kundig im Gebrauch der Waffen; wir aber beide sind alt geworden.“
