Bhīṣma’s Appraisal of Pāṇḍava-Alliance Warriors (Śikhaṇḍin, Dhṛṣṭadyumna, and Allied Kings)
गाण्डीवं च धर्नुर्दिव्यं ते चाश्वा वातरंहस: । अभेद्यं कवचं दिव्यमक्षय्यौ च महेषुधी
gāṇḍīvaṃ ca dhanuḥ divyaṃ te cāśvā vātarāṃhasaḥ | abhedyaṃ kavacaṃ divyam akṣayyau ca maheṣudhī ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Du besitzt den göttlichen Bogen Gāṇḍīva; deine Rosse sind schnell wie der Wind. Du hast zudem eine undurchdringliche göttliche Rüstung und zwei große Köcher, deren Pfeile niemals zur Neige gehen.“ In diesem Lob auf Arjunas Ausrüstung betont das Epos, wie außergewöhnliche Macht und Schutz für eine gerechte Sache zusammenkommen, und erinnert zugleich daran, dass solche Gaben die Pflicht mehren, mit Maß und gemäß dem Dharma zu handeln.
