Agni-hymn, discovery of Indra, and the Nahuṣa threat
स्वं चैव वपुरास्थाय बभूव स बलान्वित: । अब्रवीच्च गुरुं देवो बृहस्पतिमवस्थितम्,अपने पूर्व शरीरको प्राप्त करके वे बल-पराक्रमसे सम्पन्न हो गये। तत्पश्चात् इन्द्रने वहाँ खड़े हुए अपने गुरु बृहस्पतिसे कहा--
svaṃ caiva vapur āsthāya babhūva sa balānvitaḥ | abravīc ca guruṃ devo bṛhaspatim avasthitam ||
Nachdem er seine eigene leibliche Gestalt wiedererlangt hatte, war er abermals mit Kraft und Heldenmut erfüllt. Da wandte sich Indra, der Herr der Götter, an seinen Lehrer Bṛhaspati, der dort stand—ein Zeichen dafür, dass die rechte Ordnung zurückgekehrt war und dass man vor entscheidendem Handeln Rat einholt.
शल्य उवाच
The verse highlights ethical leadership: after regaining rightful strength and position, one should seek guidance from a qualified teacher (guru) before acting. Power is framed as something to be aligned with counsel and proper order, not used impulsively.
Indra has returned to his own body/form and thus becomes strong again. Immediately afterward, he addresses his preceptor Bṛhaspati, who is present, indicating a moment of consultation or instruction following a restoration of Indra’s condition.
