Kuntī–Karṇa Saṃvāda: Lineage Disclosure and Appeal to Fraternal Dharma

पश्ये दोषं ध्रुवं युद्धे तथायुद्धे पराभवम्‌ । अधनस्य मृतं श्रेयो न हि ज्ञातिक्षयो जय:

paśye doṣaṃ dhruvaṃ yuddhe tathāyuddhe parābhavam | adhanasya mṛtaṃ śreyo na hi jñātikṣayo jayaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Im Krieg sehe ich einen sicheren und schweren Makel; doch wenn es keinen Krieg gibt, ist die Niederlage ebenso offenkundig. Für den, der ohne Mittel dasteht, ist es besser, den Tod zu wählen; ein Sieg, erkauft durch die Vernichtung der eigenen Verwandten, ist kein Sieg.“
