Rulership should be exercised in harmony with one’s kin and anchored in dharmic discipline—sustained by sacred recitation (japa), fire-offerings (homa), and auspicious observances—so that power is tempered by self-restraint and moral order.
Vāyu-deva addresses a heroic figure (mahābāho) and urges him to enjoy/hold the kingdom together with the Pāṇḍava brothers, while remaining engaged in religious and auspicious practices—presenting a model of righteous governance amid the tensions of the Udyoga Parva.
