प्रवर्तनाद्‌ द्वापरस्य यथाभागमुपाश्षुते । कले: प्रवर्तनादू राजा पापमत्यन्तमश्लुते,द्वापर उपस्थित करनेसे उसे यथाभाग पुण्य और पापका फल प्राप्त होता है; परंतु कलियुगकी प्रवृत्ति करनेसे राजाको अत्यन्त पाप (कष्ट) भोगना पड़ता है

pravartanād dvāparasya yathābhāgam upāśnute | kaleḥ pravartanād rājā pāpam atyantam aśnute ||

Wer das Dvāpara-Zeitalter in Gang setzt, empfängt Verdienst und Schuld in gebührendem Anteil. Wer aber den Lauf des Kali-Zeitalters eröffnet, lädt überaus schwere Sünde auf sich und muss ihre harten Folgen ertragen. Das Wort betont die ethische Last der Herrschaft: Das Tun des Regenten kann ausgewogene Ordnung bewahren oder ein entartetes Zeitalter entfesseln, dessen Leid auf den Urheber zurückschlägt.
