Krishna’s Theophanic Display in the Kuru Assembly
The verse condemns the delusion that moral corruption and collective force can successfully overpower a righteous, divinely-protected figure. It frames the plan to ‘restrain’ Kṛṣṇa as ethically tainted (pāpaiḥ sahāyaiḥ) and strategically futile (apradhṛṣya, durāsada), warning against adharma-driven aggression.
Vaiśampāyana reports a rebuke: someone is being accused of plotting to capture Kṛṣṇa by assembling wicked allies. The speaker highlights Kṛṣṇa’s invincibility and the moral depravity of the conspirators, setting a tone of impending conflict and the failure of unjust schemes.
