Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Bereavement and the Averted Assault on Bhīma (Āyasī Pratimā Episode)
एवं ते प्रययुर्वीरा वीक्षमाणा: परस्परम् । भयार्ता: पाण्डुपुत्राणामागस्कृत्वा महात्मनाम्,महात्मा पाण्डवोंका अपराध करके भयसे पीड़ित हुए वे तीनों वीर इस प्रकार एक- दूसरेकी ओर देखते हुए वहाँसे खिसक गये
evaṁ te prayayur vīrā vīkṣamāṇāḥ parasparam | bhayārtāḥ pāṇḍuputrāṇām āgaskṛtvā mahātmanām ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana sprach: So zogen jene Krieger davon und blickten einander an. Von Furcht bedrängt — weil sie sich an den großherzigen Söhnen Pāṇḍus vergangen hatten — schlichen sie von jenem Ort fort, von Schuld beschwert.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Wrongdoing against the righteous brings inner fear and shame; even the strong become unsettled when conscience and moral order (dharma) are violated, leading to withdrawal rather than confidence.
A group of warriors, conscious that they have offended the noble Pāṇḍavas, look at each other in anxious silence and then leave the place, driven by fear and the sense of guilt.
