Rules for Dharmic Victory in Kṣatriya Engagement

अथैनमभिनिन्दन्ति भिन्न कुम्भमिवाश्मनि | तस्माद्‌ धर्मेण विजयं कोशं लिप्सेत भूमिप:,पत्थरपर पटके हुए घड़ेके समान उसके टूक-टूक हो जाते हैं और सभी लोग उसकी निन्दा करते हैं; अत: राजाको चाहिये कि वह धर्मपूर्वक ही धन और विजय प्राप्त करनेकी इच्छा करे

athainam abhinindanti bhinna-kumbham ivāśmani | tasmād dharmeṇa vijayaṃ kośaṃ lipseta bhūmipaḥ ||

Dann schmähen die Menschen einen solchen Herrscher, zerschmettert wie ein Krug, der an einen Stein geschleudert wurde. Darum, o König, soll man Sieg und Schatzkammer nur durch Dharma erstreben—auf rechtschaffene Weise—damit der Erfolg nicht in Schande und Verderben endet.
