Rules for Dharmic Victory in Kṣatriya Engagement
इषुर्लिप्तो न कर्णी स्यादसतामेतदायुधम् । यथार्थमेव योद्धव्यं न क्रुद्धयेत जिघांसत:,युद्धमें विषलिप्त और कर्णी बाणका प्रयोग नहीं करना चाहिये। ये दुष्टोंके अस्त्र हैं। यथार्थ रीतिसे ही युद्ध करना चाहिये। यदि कोई व्यक्ति युद्धमें किसीका वध करना चाहता हो तो उसपर क्रोध नहीं करना चाहिये (किंतु यथायोग्य प्रतीकार करना चाहिये)
iṣur lipto na karṇī syād asatām etad āyudham | yathārtham eva yoddhavyaṃ na kruddhyet jighāṃsataḥ ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Im Krieg soll man weder mit Gift bestrichene Pfeile noch Widerhakenpfeile verwenden; solche Waffen gehören den Niederträchtigen. Man soll wahrhaftig und in rechter Weise kämpfen. Und wenn jemand dich in der Schlacht töten will, lass dich nicht vom Zorn treiben; antworte mit angemessenen Gegenmaßnahmen und bleibe dabei innerhalb der gerechten Ordnung.“
