Shloka 13
आत्मानं सर्वतो रक्षन् राजन् रक्षस्व मेदिनीम् । आत्ममूलमिदं सर्वमाहुर्व विदुषो जना:,राजन! तुम सब ओरसे अपनी रक्षा करते हुए ही इस सारी पृथ्वीकी रक्षा करो; क्योंकि विद्वान् पुरुषोंका कहना है कि इन सबका मूल अपना सुरक्षित शरीर ही है
ātmānaṃ sarvato rakṣan rājan rakṣasva medinīm | ātmamūlam idaṃ sarvam āhur viduṣo janāḥ ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „O König, während du dich selbst nach allen Seiten hin schützt, schütze auch die Erde. Denn die Weisen sagen: Die Wurzel von allem ist die eigene Person, sicher bewahrt.“
