अस्मानभिगतश्चासि वयं च त्वामुपस्थिता: । कार्य चातिथ्यमस्माभिवरयं सर्वे कुटुम्बिन:

asmān abhigataś cāsi vayaṁ ca tvām upasthitāḥ | kāryaṁ cātithyam asmābhir varaṁ sarve kuṭumbinaḥ ||

Bhīṣma sprach: „Du bist zu uns gekommen, und auch wir stehen hier, dir zu Diensten. Darum ist es unsere Pflicht, dir Gastfreundschaft zu erweisen—ja, wir alle als Hausväter halten dies für die vornehmste Verpflichtung.“
