Shloka 8

नागभायोवाच आर्य: सूर्यरथं वोढुं गतोडसौ मासचारिक: । सप्ताष्टभिर्दिनैर्विप्र दर्शयिष्यत्यसंशयम्‌,नागपत्नीने कहा--विप्रवर! मेरे माननीय पतिदेव सूर्यदेवका रथ ढोनेके लिये गये हुए हैं। वर्ष एक बार एक मासतक उन्हें यह कार्य करना पड़ता है। पंद्रह दिनोंमें ही वे यहाँ दर्शन देंगे--इसमें संशय नहीं है

Nāgabhāryovāca: āryaḥ sūryarathaṁ voḍhuṁ gato ’sau māsacārikaḥ | saptāṣṭabhir dinair vipra darśayiṣyaty asaṁśayam ||

Die Gattin des Nāga sprach: „Edler Herr, mein Gemahl ist fortgegangen, um den Wagen des Sonnengottes zu tragen. Diese Pflicht fällt ihm jedes Jahr für einen Monat zu. In sieben oder acht Tagen, o Brahmane, wird er gewiss hier erscheinen—daran besteht kein Zweifel.“
