अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः

मया होषा हि प्रियते पातालस्थेन भोगिना । मया धृता धारयति जगद् विश्व॑ं चराचरम्,“मैं पातालमें शेषनागके रूपसे रहकर इस पृथ्वीको धारण करता हूँ और मेरेद्वारा धारित होकर यह सम्पूर्ण चराचर जगत्को धारण करती है
mayā hoṣā hi priyate pātālasthena bhoginā | mayā dhṛtā dhārayati jagad viśvaṃ carācaram |
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Ich, der ich in Pātāla in der Gestalt der Schlange Śeṣa weile, stütze diese Erde. Von mir getragen, trägt sie ihrerseits das ganze Universum — alles Bewegte und Unbewegte.“
