Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)

रुद्रो रोषात्मको जातो दशान्यान्‌ सो5सृजत्‌ स्वयम्‌ । एकादशैते रुद्रास्तु विकारपुरुषा: स्मृता:,“ब्रह्माजीके रोषसे रुद्रका प्रादुर्भाव हुआ है। उन रुद्रने स्वयं ही दस अन्य रुद्रोंकी भी सृष्टि कर ली है। इस प्रकार ये ग्यारह रुद्र हैं, जो विकारपुरुष माने गये हैं

rudro roṣātmako jāto daśānyān so 'sṛjat svayam | ekādaśaite rudrās tu vikārapuruṣāḥ smṛtāḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Aus Brahmās Zorn entstand Rudra, von grimmiger Wut durchdrungen. Und dieser Rudra brachte aus eigenem Antrieb zehn weitere Rudras hervor. So sind es elf Rudras, als ‘vikāra-puruṣas’ überliefert — Personifikationen verwandelnder, leidenschaftlich aufgewühlter Kräfte, die aus der Erschütterung von Geist und Kosmos hervorgehen.“
