एतत्‌ ते सर्वमाख्यातं यन्मां त्वं परिपृच्छसि । एवं मेडकथयद्‌ राजन्‌ पुरा द्वैपायनो गुरु:,राजन! तुमने मुझसे जो कुछ पूछा था, वह सब मैंने कह सुनाया। पूर्वकालमें मेरे गुरु व्यासजीने मुझे ऐसा ही उपदेश दिया था

etad te sarvam ākhyātaṃ yan māṃ tvaṃ paripṛcchasi | evaṃ me ’dakathayad rājan purā dvaipāyano guruḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O König, ich habe dir nun alles berichtet, wonach du mich gefragt hast. Vor langer Zeit unterwies mich mein Lehrer Dvaipāyana (Vyāsa) auf eben diese Weise.“
