पितृयज्ञे नारायणतत्त्वम् — The Nārāyaṇa Grounding of Ancestral Offerings
शुकस्य वचन श्रुत्वा दिश: सर्वा: सकानना: । समुद्रा: सरित: शैला: प्रत्यूचुस्तं समन््तत:
śukasya vacanaṃ śrutvā diśaḥ sarvāḥ sakānanāḥ | samudrāḥ saritaḥ śailāḥ pratyūcustam samantataḥ ||
Als Śuka gesprochen hatte, antworteten ihm alle Himmelsrichtungen mitsamt ihren Wäldern—ebenso die Ozeane, Flüsse und Berge—von allen Seiten. Die ganze Natur, als wäre sie mit Stimme und Autorität begabt, erwiderte dem Weisen und deutete an, dass moralische Wahrheit nicht auf menschliche Rede beschränkt ist, sondern im Gefüge der Schöpfung selbst widerhallt.
शुक उवाच
The verse frames the universe as morally responsive: the directions, waters, and mountains ‘answer’ Śuka, implying that dharma is aligned with the cosmic order and can be discerned beyond merely human opinion.
Śuka has spoken or asked something significant; upon hearing him, the personified elements of the world—directions with forests, oceans, rivers, and mountains—collectively reply from all sides, setting up the content of their response in the following verses.
