Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

न तु कुण्डे पयोभाव: पयश्चापि न मक्षिका । स्वयमेवाप्रुवन्त्येते भावा ननु पराश्रयम्‌,फिर भी कुंडीमें दुग्धत्व नहीं आया है और दूध भी मक्खी नहीं बन गया है। ये सारे आधेय पदार्थ स्वयं ही अपनेसे भिन्न आधारको प्राप्त होते हैं

Transliteration

na tu kuṇḍe payobhāvaḥ payaścāpi na makṣikā | svayamevāpruvantyete bhāvā nanu parāśrayam ||

Translation

Bhīṣma sprach: «Doch das Gefäß wird nicht zu “Milch”, nur weil es sie enthält, und die Milch wird nicht zur Fliege. Diese abhängigen Zustände und Eigenschaften suchen von selbst eine andere Stütze (ein anderes Substrat) als sie selbst.»
