भूपाल! नरेश्वर! फिर वे अपने तेजसे जरायुज, अण्डज, स्वेदज और उदिभज्ज--इन चार प्रकारके प्राणियोंसे भरे हुए सम्पूर्ण जगत्‌को शीघ्र ही भस्म कर डालते हैं ।। एतदुन्मेषमात्रेण विनष्टं स्थाणु जड़मम्‌ | कूर्मपृष्ठममा भूमिर्भवत्यथ समन्तत:,पलक मारते-मारते इस समस्त चराचर जगत्‌का नाश हो जाता है और यह भूमि सब ओरसे कछुएकी पीठकी तरह प्रतीत होने लगती है

bhūpāla! nareśvara! punaḥ te svatejasā jarāyujāṇḍajasvedajodbhijja-caturvidha-prāṇibhiḥ paripūrṇaṃ samastaṃ jagat kṣipram eva bhasma kurvanti. etad-unmeṣa-mātreṇa vinaṣṭaṃ sthāṇu-jaḍam; kūrma-pṛṣṭham iva bhūmir bhavaty atha samantataḥ.

Yājñavalkya sprach: „O Beschützer der Erde, o König! Dann machen sie durch die bloße Wucht ihres Glanzes die ganze Welt—erfüllt von den vier Arten der Lebewesen: aus dem Mutterleib Geborene, aus Eiern Geborene, aus Schweiß/Feuchtigkeit Entstandene und aus der Erde Hervorsprießende—rasch zu Asche. Im bloßen Öffnen und Schließen des Auges wird alles Starre wie alles Bewegte vernichtet; und die Erde erscheint ringsum wie der gewölbte Rücken einer Schildkröte.“
