The verse highlights how māyā and divine agency can obscure the visible chain of cause and effect after an act of violence, urging caution in moral judgment and emphasizing the complexity of assigning blame and administering justice when higher powers intervene.
A prince is killed, and immediately afterward the killer disappears on the spot. The text explains that Śārṭūla was made invisible through the magical power (māyā) of the king of the gods, Indra.
