वेदवादांस्तथा चित्रानृतूनां पर्ययांस्तथा । क्षयं संवत्सराणां च मासानां च क्षयं तथा,वेदोंके भाँति-भाँतिके विचित्र वचन, ऋतुओंके परिवर्तन तथा दिन, पक्ष, मास और संवत्सर आदि काल जो प्रतिक्षण बीत रहा है, उसकी ओर भी ध्यान दे। चन्द्रमाकी हासवृद्धि तो प्रत्यक्ष दिखायी देती है। समुद्रोंका ज्वारभाटा भी प्रत्यक्ष ही है। धनवानोंके धनका नाश और नाशके बाद पुनः वृद्धिका क्रम भी दृष्टिगोचर होता ही रहता है। इन सबको देखकर अपने कर्तव्यका निश्चय करे

Bhīṣma sprach: „Bedenke auch die mannigfaltigen und wunderbaren Aussprüche der Veden, den Wandel der Jahreszeiten und das unaufhörliche Vergehen der Zeit—Jahre wie Monate gleichermaßen. Wer sieht, wie alles sich wandelt und verfällt, soll seine Pflicht (Dharma) mit Klarheit und Standhaftigkeit bestimmen.“
